Sebastiaan van Dam

Senior associate

Sebastiaan van Dam, attorney at law, is a member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice group in our Amsterdam office. He focuses on corporate and commercial dispute resolution, including ESG litigation.

Sebastiaan joined VANEPS in 2025. He represents (international) companies, shareholders, directors, and supervisory board members in preventing and resolving corporate (Corporate Litigation) and commercial disputes (Commercial Litigation).

Sebastiaan has extensive experience in advising and litigating, both before the Enterprise Chamber (Ondernemingskamer) and the regular civil courts (including summary proceedings) as well as in arbitration cases. He deals with a wide range of corporate and commercial issues, such as directors’ and supervisory board members’ liability, corporate governance, employee participation, complex disputes within partnerships such as professional partnerships, limited partnerships, and joint ventures, as well as post-M&A disputes. In addition, Sebastiaan advises and litigates on ESG-related matters in the broadest sense of the word.

Earlier, Sebastiaan worked for six years as an attorney-at-law at BarentsKrans in The Hague, the Netherlands.

Sebastiaan holds Master’s degrees in International Economics and Business (M.Sc.), Dutch Law (LL.M.), and Corporate Law (LL.M.) from Utrecht University. In 2023, he successfully completed the Corporate Litigation specialization program at the Grotius Academy.

Finally, Sebastiaan regularly gives lectures and interviews on corporate law topics, for instance, for the Academy for the Legal Practice (AvdR).

The Netherlands Bar Registry

Sebastiaan has registered the following principal legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister): Corporate Law.

Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
