All five supermarkets of Van den Tweel Groep on Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire – locally known as ‘Van den Tweel Supermarkets’, ‘Ling & Sons IGA Supercenter’ and ‘Warehouse Bonaire’ – have been acquired by Alphabet Holdings. This investment group is led by Gassan Azan, owner of for example Jamaican supermarket chain MegaMart. In this major sale, Van den Tweel Groep was assisted by partner Randolph van Eps, senior associate Godelieve Wesselingh, lawyer Mariette Hazejager-Steeg and junior associate Joël Felida.
The team of VANEPS advised Van den Tweel Groep in this sales transaction from beginning to end (from the drafting of the letter of intent and the negotiations with the purchaser, to the signing of the sales and purchase agreement (SPA) and the transfer of shares). VANEPS also advised on the contracts regarding the continuity of the delivery of products and the how Gerard van den Tweel, founder of the supermarkets on Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, will stay involved in the organization in the future.
The supermarkets of Van den Tweel Groep are well-known on the Dutch Caribbean islands and appreciated for their quality and product range. Articles about the acquisition of the supermarkets were published in several local newspapers, for example Antilliaans Dagblad (article in Dutch) and Amigoe (article in Dutch).
